Congresswoman Adams Applauds Intel Global Diversity and Inclusions’ Investment in HBCUvc (2097 hits)

Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12), founder and co-chair of the Congressional Bipartisan HBCU Caucus applauds Intel’s Global Diversity and Inclusion team for investing in HBCUvc. HBCUvc is a nonprofit that prepares HBCU graduates for venture capital and technology entrepreneurship.

“As the former Vice-Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee, I know how important HBCUs are to producing Black entrepreneurs. That is why Intel’s HBCUvc announcement is so important,” said Congresswoman Adams. “In 2017, Intel became the first entity to take the HBCU Partnership Challenge. They made a public commitment to ensure HBCUs and their graduates are a strategic part of their recruitment and retention efforts. This new investment is another step in the right direction. HBCUs produce 42% of all Black engineers and it is imperative that they are positioned throughout all levels of the tech sector. I look forward to continuing to work with Intel and the other entities of the Challenge to support and promote stronger, more strategic partnerships with HBCUs and their graduates. Together, government, industry and schools will build a well-equipped, and more diverse 21st century workforce.”

“In 2017, we made a $4.5 million investment in six HBCUs to encourage students to remain in STEM.” Said Dawn Jones, Director of Strategy and External Partnerships at Intel. “As part of our continued commitment to support and recruit key talent, Intel Capital and Intel’s Global Diversity and Inclusion team are partnering with HCBU.vc to ensure Intel continues to drive diversity and inclusion in the tech industry forward.”
