Johnson C. Smith University is pleased to announce the 2017 JCSU Homecoming week of activities beginning Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, and running through Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017.

The 2017 Homecoming game against Shaw University Bears is set for Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., but the public is invited to partake in a week of celebrations before that point. Sunday Oct. 15 is the Gospel Explosion followed by Monday’s Homecoming Kick-Off, Annual 5K Run and Outdoor Movie Night. Tuesday night brings the laughs at the comedy show hosted by the stars of TV’s “Wildin’ Out” while Wednesday features student and alumni panels. A scholarship fundraiser Thursday and Friday’s 100 Club Golf Tournament round out activities before the main event.

Saturday is full of excitement, from an early jazz breakfast to the annual Homecoming parade at 10 a.m. led by JCSU’s International Institution of Sound. The parade winds from West Charlotte High School down Beatties Ford Road and will be a nonstop feast for the eyes and ears. Friends and family of all ages can discover the kid inside at the day-long carnival atmosphere of FestiVille, which features games, face painting, rides, food trucks, contests, music and more. At 1 p.m., the Golden Bulls will clash with the Shaw Bears. Refresh after the game with the much-loved annual Soul Food Dinner at 4 p.m., and prepare for the amazing moves of the National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show at 7 p.m.

JCSU’s Homecoming Executive Committee is thrilled to welcome home alumni, community, and friends new and old. Details on additional Homecoming Week events are available online at https://www.jcsu.edu/happenings/events/hom...
