Marriage......Are people really ready? (134 hits)

Okay.........is it me or is everyone nowadays jumping into marriage more and more? If I remember correctly, back in the day people got married because the woman got pregnant or because their family did not approve of the person they actually wanted who just so happened to live on the wrong side of the tracks......so why are these reasons (coupled with newer reasons) causing people to 'jump the broom' more and more today. I have friends who are not equally yoked with their mates, but because they have been with them so long...they feel as though they owe it to their mate to get married. I know women who are still trying to or actually suceeding at trapping men by bringing life into the world and they are not physically or emotionally ready for the responsibility and no I am not just blaming this on the female because brothers are also out there not protecting themselves and are not clearly thinking about the consequences of the situation. Many of my friends are already divorced at the age of 25 or 26 because they did not take their time. As John Legend put it we should take it slow. No tomorrow isn't promised but if the person that you are in the relationship take your time and not rush things I am certain you will be able to decipher whether or not this person was sent to you by God to be your mate for life. Another thing I believe is that females are "LOOKING" for a man or a husband. In the Bible it says a MAN who FINDETH a WIFE FINDETH a GOOD thing. Not the other way around. Patience is where both males and females fail, but women especially because sometimes the feelings are 'Well my biological clock is ticking' or 'I do not want to be an old maid'. If marriage is what you desire, both male and female, we should pray and ask for guidance from God. Marriage is a sacred thing and should be treated as such....not just somehting to do.

I agree with you Steven, but I also think that marriage should be two whloe people coming together, so yes sisters do need to work on themselves, but brothers should work on themselves as well. You will be surprised how many young men rush into marriage as well. In a marriage you are to be one another's help meet.......when one fall's short, the other should be there to pick up the pieces and vice versa. I hear a lot of people say that marriage is 50/50, but I like to say it should be 100/100. Each person in the marriage should give 100% which would mean that each person would need to be a whole person in order for that to work. Thanks for the comment.
