Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl Trophy Tour Stopping in Daytona Beach This Weekend (4229 hits)


Chance to Win VIP Experience at the Dec 17 Game

The Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl Trophy Tour, presented by Coca-Cola, will make its first of ten stops at the MEAC/SWAC Challenge “Battle by the Beach” at Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beacf, Florida on September 4, 2016. The game features Alcorn State University of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) vs. Bethune-Cookman University of the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC). Kickoff is at 1pm EST on Sunday, September 4, 2016.

At Municipal Stadium, fans can take pictures with the trophy and post them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the official hashtag #AFRCBtrophytour for the chance to win a VIP experience at the 2016 Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. The inaugural Trophy Tour will take the official trophy to a total of eight marquee college football games and events throughout the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) divisions, as well as two Air Force Reserve Bases. It will stop at the following events before arriving at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta for the second annual Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016.

• October 15, 2016, Southern University vs. Jackson State, Jackson, MS
• October 22, 2016, Howard University Homecoming, Washington, D.C.
• October 29, 2016, North Carolina A&T State University Homecoming, Greensboro, NC
• October 29, 2016, The Magic City Classic, Birmingham, AL
• November 19, 2016, Florida Blue Florida Classic, Orlando, FL
• December 3, 2016, SWAC Championship, Houston, TX
• Date TBD, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Marietta, GA
• Date TBD, Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, GA
• December 17, 2016, Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, Atlanta, GA

Establishing itself as the first bowl game of the season, the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl is a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) postseason football game owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN. It is a championship-style game between the MEAC and SWAC division champions and will be televised on ABC at noon on Saturday, Dec.17. ESPN works with 100 Black Men of Atlanta to organize the game’s ancillary events which include a youth symposium, robotics showcase, college and job fair, fan experience and more.

Fans can purchase tickets to the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl at ticketmaster.com, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or at the Georgia Dome box office by mid-September. Prices range from $15 to $60, plus applicable taxes and fees. A full list of events surrounding the game will be made available on the event’s website by mid-September.
