"So-called Christians" (182 hits)

I am not sure if you all are familiar with Gospel artist Tonex or not, but he is no longer in the music industry period. From my understanding he has become discouraged by his so-called bretheren in christ. I am also sure the different issues that he has had with his label, his recent divorce, or the fact that at this point in time he has no money has also added lighter fluid to the flames that have been burning in his life. I viewed his blog on myspace.com. As read through the blog I noticed that even in the gospel industry their are artist out to get one another, artist that down you for not fitting into the standards that "they" have set, and even ministers who are competitive......but I already knew that. I learned however that our Faith is constantly tested by man. Even when you are an award winning Gospel artist you too can be tested by people who profess to be Christians. I notice that most traditonal (gospel) artist show absolutly no LOVE for their fellow bretheren who have been anoited to bring the Gospel in a radical movement. Honestly, the youth of today are not moved by Ole time Religion, what is needed is a very real, unsugar-coated message to wake up our young nation. As I continued to read through Tonex's blog I felt the pain as if I were typing the words myself. He painted a very vivid picture of the way that he has been treated since he stepped on the gospel music scene. What is even more shocking is he does not have a desire to leave gospel music to sing in the secular world. He has a TRUE yearning for Christ. I want to send a message to all of my friends, no matter what you are going through God will never put more on you than you can bear. Minister Gary Faulkner from Memphis, TN once said, 'Remember that you are a child of the King.' Regardless of what man says, you are going to constantly be tested, even as an award-winning Gospel artist. Even by those who call themselves Christians but that are not exemplifing that in their walk. And to those Christians who look down on others who have fallen by the wayside, you too have at some point in your life have fallen short. We all do everyday, because we are Human. And for those who criticize the unfamiliar that has the exact same packaging, but because you are so high and mighty and think that glory can't be found in something new.....wake up! Things are changing and the same people you are trying to SAVE are probably more likely to go with what the world is calling "RIGHT" instead of what you are calling "WRONG" because of the bickering and fighting in Christidom. People want the REAL and mot the FAKE! I pray that Tonex come back to the Gospel industry, because he is Truly needed. I know that I will keep him in my prayers.

One Love,
Faith

Deep Sis and what a 1st blog! My applause! Always be who You are.
I commend Your boldness.
Yes the Church is like that, You should see or know of some of the attacks I have received by a few that claim all this religious stuff. Religion (law) kills bur spiritual always loves. You will see a lot of that. Remember Religionists like those pharasees and sadducees killed Jesus and used the worst form, CRUCIFICTION.

I was disturbed to read that a Gospel singer that I really love and got me into Gospel music, i.e. Yolanda Adams is divorced for the 2nd time.
For me if I am preached and sang to about God provides all but You can't get the 2nd most important relationship right in Your life and the basis of all what You are to build Your life on, well anyway...
I was dwelling on that last night, I mean Fred Hammond is at all the conferences for relationships and left his wife...
How can one make it in the music industry that is hard for the best of artists, sell millions of records, have the attention of millions but can't get the most important relationship outside of God right that is a commandment, anyway...
Awesome blog...

I undersatnd too Ms. Moore. What will happend to the younger generations who look up to people like Tonex. You know that you will find the devil in church praising and hollering with everyone else. Just thank God you don't have to worry about that, God know's your heart. I want Tonex to come back too. I started seeking God more in college and I considered that a blessing, but I was willing to seek God. It wasn't easy, but gospel music helped me alot. About Yolanda and Fred, there are some areas in there life that needs to be worked on. Did you see Oprah with Kirk Franklin and the issues he was dealing with while making gospel music. God Bless and outstanding blog.
