Water Contamination in Horsham, Warminster to Be Discussed at Two Forums This Week
Two public information sessions are scheduled this week to address perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) found in drinking water wells near the former Naval Air Base.

The public information sessions will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Horsham Township Community Center, 1025 Horsham Rd.

PFCs have been found at public and private drinking water wells near the Former Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Willow Grove and former Naval Air Warfare Center in Warminster. During the information sessions, officials are expected to give an update on actions taken to address the issue.

PFOS are perfluorinated compounds that are or were once used in a variety of consumer products, such as fire-fighting foam, stain and water repellants, paper products, the lining of microwave popcorn bags, floor wax and non-stick cookware. In laboratory animals, PFOS can cause developmental, reproductive and other adverse effects, according to the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority.

The sessions will be an open house format with multiple information displays manned by the various agency representatives, who will be available to talk one-on-one with residents.

Residents are encouraged to attend either session; the presented information is the same at both sessions, according to information from the township.

LETTER: Don't Drink the Water In Horsham
Firefighting foam is a significant threat to public health in Horsham and the surrounding area, one local man argues.

Letter to the editor submitted by Larry Menkes. Views expressed in letters to the editor do not necessarily reflect those of Patch or its employees.

Governor Wolf is pressuring Environmental Protection Agency Administer Gina McCarthy to take action in Warminster, Ivyland, Warrington, Horsham, and Hatboro. US Representative Mike Fitzpatrick, Senator Casey and others are weighing in.

Firefighting foam, once poorly understood as a health risk, is now emerging as a very serious problem. Both public and private water wells have tested positive for the foam and it has been distributed in tap water to local residents for over four decades. It’s been linked to many health problems.

Research shows that the EPA is already establishing short-term limits for the chemicals in firefighting foam known as PFOA’s and PFOS’. Short term means between one and three months. These limits are too low.

Although there is yet no long-term limit set, research by Harvard’s Phillipe Grandjean, indicates that long-term limits should be set below 0.001 part per billion, a tiny fraction of current EPA proposals.

State representatives Todd Stevens (151st Legislative District) and Bernie O’Neill (29th Legislative District) have been calling for several essential moves to protect residents. The first is to provide free bottled water to all residents in the affected areas that ask for it. On Friday residents of the affected municipalities were provided with cases of free bottled water a the Horsham Municipal Complex. Channel 6 covered this.

The second request, yet to be addressed, is to provide free testing to any resident who wants to know how much of these toxins are in their bodies. Both are essential public safety moves.

Report Says
These chemicals accumulate in the human body and have a half-life of over five years. This means that if you stop drinking contaminated water half of it will remain in your body for more than 5 years. As yet there is no known safe limit. The Warminster Municipal Water Authority has the third highest level of PFOS of all public drinking water systems in the country.

Numerous diseases have been associated with firefighting foam.

Warminster Township has three times the number of bladder cancers than the national average.

“What is undisputable is that PFOA’s and PFOS are part of a group of chemicals that have been tied to a range of health effects”, according to Sharon Lerner writing in “The Intercept”. Other probable links have been established to kidney cancer, testicular cancer, thyroid diseases, reproductive problems, pregnancy-induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia, obesity in children, high cholesterol, liver problems, vaccine failures in children, increases in colds, stomach infections, and are endocrine disruptors that can interfere with the body’s hormonal system.

The number of local people affected by firefighting foam could exceed 100,000 if you include those who have moved away in the last 35 years.

Nationally, 664 contaminated military sites have been identified, but considering other places where firefighting foam has been used the total number could be in the thousands according to the University of California at Berkely. The number of people potentially exposed to the six PFC chemicals now being studied could exceed 14 million. And because it’s also in the ground, in the air, in Teflon and other products it’s virtually impossible to find anyone who doesn’t have at least trace amounts in their bodies.

Politicians have said that the more people who contact or complain to them, the easier it will be for them to help us.

Let’s give them a hand.

Communities in Horsham and Warminster, each with a former Navy base that became a Superfund site, are dealing with new water contamination problems from compounds previously used on the government properties.
The compounds, perfluorooctane sulfonate and perfluorooctanoic acid, are “extremely persistent in the environment and resistant to typical environmental degradation processes,” according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

...Well Now, what are we to assume in light of this latest catastrophe? Is the government to blame for out water problems? Who should truly be held accountable? What should, "We The People" do now?

Does anyone remember 'Flint Michigan?'
“The Hard Way”

"Back in the day, there was a movie made about contaminating the drinking water of a selected group of people in order to cull the herd, if not completely eliminating them. How many of you remember the movie “Three The Hard Way?” The film starred ‘Fred Williamson,’ ‘Jim Brown,’ and Jim Kelly.’ I can also recall that I’ve mentioned this film in reference not long ago in another posting. The film suggested a method to a pro-white group and/or groups of how to disseminate the hated target group of people who happened to be of color.

The covert scientists who worked for the hate group(s) came up with a chemical that would eradicate only the people of color – particularly ‘Black People!’ All one had to do was add this chemical to the drinking water supply of the targeted group. The hate group who happened to emulate the ‘KKK’ with the arm bands and brown-shirted uniforms of Nazi origins and regimes were dispatched to all of the U.S. cities with large Black populations. They were directed to go out to all the water reservoirs and add the time released chemical into the water at the water treatment plants and facilities.
The heroic threesome, who happened to hear of the plot by an escaped run-away near-dead young Black testing prisoner; took it upon themselves to save the people due to lack of response by the governing officials across the land.

If you had no clean, clear, and safe water to consume, what would you do? How would you live? Who would you blame for the catastrophe? How would you right this wrong?

In a little town in Michigan, there is an existing water crisis… The majority of its people are Black, Poor-Whites, and many other People of Color. Brother Al Sharpton has mentioned bathing. “It’s not just about the drinking water and the cooking water – what about the bathing water?” Flint Michigan’s water troubles began several years back – 2013 was when this disaster came to light. The governor and his cabinet are said to be the responsible party. The governor has since apologized and taken responsibility. But is it too little too late? Was this horrific situation purely an accident or a sinister and insidious plot to eliminate the problematic people of Flint Michigan and possibly other American cities and towns?"

How did this come to pass – What caused this situation is the first place?
