
Johnson C Smith University safety Carlo Thomas, 25, of East Orange, N.J. is now leading the nation in interceptions—that’s across Division I, II and III. He’s been on a hot streak with 10 total interceptions this season, seven in the past two games. His four interceptions against Fayetteville State on Oct. 17 set a new CIAA record, and his three interceptions this past weekend helped seal JCSU’s homecoming win over Shaw.
The East Orange, N.J. native was recruited to JCSU from Valley Forge Military Academy and College in Wayne, Penn. The all-around athlete, who plays basketball, volleyball and baseball just began his first year at JCSU.
