Honors College: I am honored to be a DNIMAS scholar.

NSU has provided a strong educational foundation for me to build on after graduation. This resulted in my acceptance to the M.S. program in Materials Science here at NSU. My goal of becoming a major contributor to research in the biomedical field will be reached, and probably exceeded with the guidance and teaching from the outstanding faculty over in the McDemmond Center for Applied Research (MCAR). I desire to discover and create alternatives to chemotherapy, as well as new detection and drug-delivery methods that will improve our fight against cancer.
One part of NSU that makes it stand out is its faculty. Dr. Aliecia McClain, Dr. Anthony Nweke, Dr. Alan Rowe and Dr.Wondwossen Arasho are some of the main chemistry faculty who are the very reason I love and respect the field of chemistry. They are my motivation and inspiration to take everything I learn a step further so I can constantly challenge myself to find deeper meaning and application. There have been other professors like Mr. Daniel Pearlman who have taught me not only how to become a better writer, but also how to be more open-minded and aware of the world around me. Dr. Howard Duncan has been the best biology professor and a great life coach. He has really encouraged me throughout my college career in many ways.
So many people have been a part of my experience at NSU. As a member of the volleyball team, Coach Brandon Duvall, Coach Dave Albaugh, Ms. Jacqueline Nicholson, Ms. Christina Ruffin, Mr. Marty Miller, and other athletic staff made transitioning from Texas a breeze. They have always been encouraging and caring towards me by sharing their wisdom when I come to them with the many issues I as a student-athlete face. Recently, I have received a lot of guidance and wisdom from our very own President Eddie N. Moore Jr. and his wife Elisia A. Moore. They both have helped push me to finish strong this year.
Finally, Dr. Aswini Pradhan has been the game changer in my life thus far. He has not only seen promise in me, but has developed that promise into enhanced skills within just the few months of knowing me. His belief and trust in me serves as the encouragement I use to put all that I have into my research. He is one-of-a-kind, and I am honored to be a part of his research group and look forward to being his future graduate student in the fall. All of the faculty and staff I mentioned above embody NSU’s mission statement. In the little time I have known them, they have transformed my life by empowering me to maximize my potential. I owe a lot of my accomplishments to them and the time they invested in me.
Just like every other university, there are negatives about NSU. However, what made me decide to come here was the promise to receive a great education. Being in DNIMAS (Dozoretz National Institute for Mathematics and Applied Sciences) ensured that I took all of the top professors who guaranteed to prepare me for the next level. DNIMAS (pronounced D-Nee-Mus) is a challenging program, but that is what makes it great. Because it is challenging, and it holds each student to a higher standard, it produces students who are fully equipped to move forward in either their respective careers or to the next level.
