“Be still, and know that I AM God:
I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Why does she keep singing that same old tune? He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, but he who repeats or harps on a matter separates even close friends [Proverbs 17:9 (Amplified)]. If things are really as bad as she says it is, why doesn’t she just get another job and move on? Why continue to subject herself to enduring such an environment? She just needs to put it all behind her and try to forget it all! But, no; she keeps drudging up her past and playing the victim! Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [Matthew 5:10]. When God plants you in a particular location on assignment, it is not as easy as people may think to flee. Especially, not if you want HIS perfect will for your life!
And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
~ ROMANS 12:2 [KJV]
The pen is mightier than the sword! Prior to 2010, God gave me a command in the form of an assignment to write. An instruction to put my testimonies on paper and make it plain! I was simply told my life was an open book, I was a living testimony and I had no secrets. I was being called to live a life of full transparency. In following through with HIS Command, HE blessed me with the title of my first book, “WHAT DO I DO WITH MY PAIN?,” which HE gave to me through a friend (a very dear spiritual sister, Mary Bryant). From that point onward, God has been revealing to me, the importance of that pain within my life to include why HE has allowed the many trials and tribulations I have encountered from birth with PURPOSE. In the same manner in which we are given life with a purpose, EVERYTHING else surrounding our life is planned out with purpose for God’s definitive GLORY.
But the God of all grace,
who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus,
after that ye have suffered a while,
make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].
~ 1 PETER 5:10
Getting through the PROCESS of those ups and downs also known as trials and tribulations does not feel good at all and may take time or vary according to each individual. However, the process is necessary to bring you to an expected end. And, there is a sure fire method for receiving your BREAKTHROUGH! Walking in the SPIRIT and not according to your flesh! Adhering to the WORD of God and believing in your heart that HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU as HE strengthens you! While in the midst of your storm, you are the most vulnerable and the enemy will stop at nothing to use whatever leverage he can to enslave you and keep you bound. The lower you sink in despair, the harder the enemy hits you to include influencing those around you to strike an even greater blow to your self-esteem. But, no matter how great the cost of your pain, you must not waver (falter) in your FAITH, have any kind of doubt, or distrust in the FATHER regarding HIS PLAN for your life. HE delivers the afflicted in their affliction and opens their ears [to His voice] in adversity [Job 6:15].
A long way away from being perfect, there have been times when I doubted not only my strength, but God’s love for me. Before regaining my footing or composure from one trial, there seemed to always be another one hitting me around the corner to knock the wind out of my sail. Just when I thought the tide was low, it would rise again when I least expected it. But He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God" [Luke 18:27]. Forgetting and putting things behind me no longer became an option. Why? Because forgetting only set me up for falling for or pulling me into another trap. In fact, the enemy loves it when we are forgetful. But, 1 Peter 5:8 instructs us to “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
A HARD TRUTH
Watching movies like “Roots,” “The Butler,” and “12 Years a Slave” as a form of entertainment, without feeling enraged on some level, is simply not an option for me! So, although I support them, I cannot watch them! Especially, when the demons depicted in movies like those are a reminder of my present truth. How can I forget the history of this nation as it encompasses the history of my ancestors in viewing me today as it once did? How can I forget the pain of being singled out on the basis of my skin color to include my gender in being a woman in a male dominated world? Even in this day and time, certain positions are still being reserved for women and blacks while other positions are considered to be off limits regardless of your education, skill level and ability to execute the tasks in getting the job done. Sure, to throw off suspicion or in an attempt to disprove the obvious, there’s a sprinkle here and there of women, people of color and black men in certain positions with the greatest visibility. But, are they really allowed to showcase their true talents or exercise power, control and authority in a position or role justly earned? I’m sure President Obama would have something to say about that!
But what saith the answer of God unto him?
I have reserved to myself seven thousand men,
who have not bowed the knee to [the image of] Baal.
~ ROMANS 11:14
In a previous writing, titled, The Ugliness Inside, I stated “Instead of evolving to create a better universe for the future of our existence, we have gone in circles to reproduce the past with the same results. Still living in and conspiring with darkness, we have never really changed our mindsets; only our outer image to successfully disillusion ourselves and others into thinking or believing change has occurred with no evidence of change! We simply continue to ignore the problems by making excuses not to see what needs to be seen in making a difference.” So, each day I get up, I am constantly reminded of the darkness in this world as contributed by many soulless and unrighteous actions of people displaying unfruitful characteristics and no integrity. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law [Galatians 5:22-23]. See, here’s the thing! Spirit is neither male nor female and it has no color (or ethnicity). If the restart of civilization (the human race) began with just Noah and members of his family, are we not all from the same race thus made in the image of HE who has created us? In HIM we also were made [God’s] heritage (portion) and we obtained an inheritance; for we had been foreordained (chosen and appointed beforehand) in accordance with HIS purpose, Who works out everything in agreement with the counsel and design of HIS [own] will, so that we who first hoped in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory! In Him you also who have heard the Word of Truth, the glad tidings (Gospel) of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him, were stamped with the seal of the long-promised Holy Spirit [Ephesians 1:11-13 (Amplified)].
FORGIVENESS
O Eternal One, aren’t You looking for truth and integrity? You struck them, but they did not flinch. You destroyed them, but they did not yield to Your correction. They wouldn’t change their ways. They have set their stony faces against You - defiant and determined, refusing to repent [Jeremiah 5:3 (The Voice)]. Although preached and taught differently, forgiving is not about forgetting! On the contrary, one doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the other; one or the other can simply exist or cease to exist with or without the other. Meaning, you can easily forgive without forgetting. You can also forget and not forgive. Or you can simply forgive and forget just the same depending upon the circumstances as commanded of you by God. But for me, as ministered to me and commissioned to me by God, to FORGIVE is about remembering and embracing your SIN NATURE to include that of others in appreciating how far you have come. It is about learning and growing on your way to healing the wounds to your SOUL as caused or inflicted by those sins (and others). It is about overcoming and conquering your experiences and greatest fears on the road to being victorious. Remembering and not forgetting is an attempt to ensure “I” do not run the risk of repeating past mistakes or revisiting certain situations in finding myself to be still bound in anyway by my afflictions.
And Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them,
for they know not what they do.
And they divided His garments
and distributed them by casting lots for them.
~ Luke 23:34 [Amplified]
Discerning your surroundings is the same as being sober and vigilant to be able to see near and far in the SPIRIT. Being forgetful about the previous lessons, trials and tribulations you have encountered is the same as being ignorant to the truth. What if Jesus was not equipped to recognize Lucifer in the wilderness? What if HE had forgotten about what took place in the Garden of Eden to discern his true nature? What if HE had forgotten about bearing the sins and the hurt of the world upon HIS shoulders to include HIS death, burial and resurrection? Would that also equate to HIM forgetting about HIS purpose; being born to die! If my pain and suffering is not in vain, why would it be necessary for me to forget my spiritual journey on the road towards fulfilling my God-ordained purpose? If I, who has asked God to use me for HIS Glory in allowing me to be a vessel, were to forget my afflictions, how would I be able to minister to others to aid them in their afflictions? For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee [Psalms 86:5]. For HIS mercy endureth forever! And HE blesses me with grace and Christ-like compassion for those who have pained me while calling upon me to bless them and not curse them in prayer.
Forgiving those who have trespassed against me brings healing to my soul. Harboring ill-feelings does nothing but induces bitterness and hardens my heart. Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me [ISAIAH 6:8 (KJV)]. But, before that can happen, to be an effective vessel, I must die to my flesh each and everyday to be in right standing and in perfect alignment with the LORD to include me rebuking any and all anger threatening to stand between me and the WILL OF God for my life. And for my sake and yours, I must be like Peter who asked: “Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” [Matthew 18:21-22].

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND
by MARSHA BURNS:
Release yourself from ALL regret. You CANNOT CHANGE the past, but you can USE your past experiences to GAIN UNDERSTANDING of what motivates yourself and others. You can ACCESS WISDOM from the EVALUATION of the past that will HELP you become a BETTER human being. Most importantly, you will have opportunities to LEARN THE VALUE OF FORGIVENESS, says the Lord. "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” ~ Matthew 6:15
