Black Americans didn't reach out because of how bitter plantation slavery was! Black Americans did not reach out because of racism!
Black Americans reached out because we want the opportunity to face the same obstacles that White America faced and overcame to become a superpower and holds the crown of being the best steward of God's earth.
We could never reach our full potential's unless we are spiritually and physically free and sovereign people!
So, we have a better reason than the children of Israel had. They wanted out of bondage and slavery.
