Basketball and Hip-Hop cultural term is a Slam Dunk with the greatest college basketball programs of All-Time. Now that's Dunkadelic!
Baltimore, MD (BlackNews.com) - The name Dunkadelic has made some incredible strides since it's creation in 1997. The term was first created for a line of performance athletic apparel and sneakers. History has a way of working things out, and the history of the basketball and hip-hop inspired term is on it's way to the top of American sports culture.
Dunkadelic was first used as an adjective by Tom Kertes of Basketball Digest in December of 2001 describing a player as a Dunkadelic Swingman. Then it was used again by Kertes in an article he wrote in August of 2002 for the New York Knicks web page nyknicks.com quoting that Antonio McDyess was a Dunkadelic Power Forward, and again in descibing 2-time NBA Slam Dunk Champ Jason Richardson as Dunkadelic Rookie of the Year.
Since then it was the name of the shoe that Allen Iverson wore in Michael Jordan's last game in Philadelphia on 4/16/03. Iverson wore the Dunkadelic shoe, not his own signature in the final game of the greatest player ever to play the game of basketball. It graced the cover of NBA Inside Stuff as the Special Collector's Edition Dunkadelic Issue this past January with LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady as the Dunkadelics of the NBA.
The Dunkadelics LeBron and Vince as they were quoted by David Dupree of USA Today for NBA All-Star weekend this past Febuary. He also quoted that the NBA was a Dunkadelic league. Linda Cohn of ESPN SportsCenter was the first national sports anchor to use the Dunkadelic in descibing a highlight dunk for Dunkadelic Mega-Star LeBron James. It has been been used to descibe NBA Street Volume 2 summarizing the computer game as It's Dunkadelic, It's Phat, It's Frezzesh. Now Dunkadelic is about to make history with the greatest programs in college basketball history. The Phat 5 of College Basketball.
The Phat 5 programs Kentucky, N.Carolina, UCLA, Kansas, and Duke will be making some impressive history during the 2006-07 season when they celebrate 500 years of collective play for all of America to see. The Dunkadelic terminology has a link to them and a special code to the makeup for the term. Using the Phat 5 in either full word or abbreviation the Dunkadelic term can be created, also the #6 program of All-Time Indiana is part of the puzzle. See the diagram below:
