The 70th Classic was a clean sweep for Tuskegee as the Golden Tigers held on to win Round 3-the second half. Senior tailback John David Washington was given the Most Valuable Player team award for his 129 yard rushing performance. In his last rivalry finale, the award was bittersweet for Washington. “Thirty minutes ago I would have been like I didn’t like the way I went out in this game,” Washington said. “But now, I love the way I went out in this game because the team didn’t quit.” he continued.
And for those who were just interested in the elder Washington…Yes, he was at the game. For four quarters, Hollywood’s top leading men was just another father watching his son git’er done on the gridiron.
