A friend of mine posed this question about this word. The "N" word is a common term that is used in everyday language and has become a way of life for the African American community, but I believe that it has a negative effect on our community and is another form of self hatred that we use to bring each other down. What do you think?

According to the context used in. Of course no non black can use it, but even they have taken the word and ran off with it. I have had my words against a few folks that have used that word that were non black but thought they were down like that like this brother who has a white girlfriend and a dude that claims black but is not.
All starts at home though and when you have many parents that are not being parents well.....
Remember each generation as by the word takes things to another level.
I don't remember black people using that word as such when I was growing up.

I think the N word has an extremely negative impact on this society, especially the youth. Black people using this word sends a message to those who are not black. It says that the N word is something that everyone should use because it is not a big deal. However it is a huge deal, in that it was once a word used to degrade and humiliate the black race, and now "everyone says it" as though they do not know where it originated from. It is a sign of ignorance amongst our black youth and those not of color who use it just the same.

we need to all think of a new word to refer to each other as like
"Meeks" see watch it fits everywhere
what's up my "meeks". Nothing meeks chillin. that meeks owe me some money,

Mike the same principle applies to females calling one another B's and H's as it does to the black community using the N word. It is still negative!

As long as "our" entertainers keep using it, it will never go away. I try each day to keep my students from using it and they do not understand the history of the word. To me, it will never have a positive meaning.

As a teacher, a woman , a black child whose parents were from the south, it will never fly with me no matter how it is used or who says it. We should be the last people to accept it!
