"Born William Edward Burghardt DuBois. Taught at the University of Pennsylvania and Atlanta University. Became the ideological foe to Booker T. Washington. Wrote the publication ""The Souls of Black Folk"". Was the first Director of Research and Publications for the NAACP. One of the founding members of the NAACP. Founded and was editor of the publication, Crisis, for 24 years."
