PROFESSION: Executive
"Was President of NAFEO. Also served at the College Board, the NAACP, and National Black Leadership Roundtable. Is a gourmet chef in her private life."
Ms. Lezli Baskerville
President and CEO
National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education

Ms. Lezli Baskerville is the fifth President and CEO of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, the national membership and advocacy association for the nation’s 120 historically and predominately black colleges and universities. She is a seasoned lawyer, government relations and equity professional, and association senior executive who is a recognized expert on equal employment opportunity, education access, affirmative action and diversity issues. She is published in the field.

From 1999-2003, Ms. Baskerville served as Vice President for Government Relations for The College Board, where she was chief executive officer of the Washington Office and provided leadership to the Board’s federal and state government relations teams, the EOC, Upward Bound, and sponsored scholarship programs. She also led a College Board team in preparing a Supreme Court amicus curiae brief in Grutter v. Bollinger; served as national Co-Chair of the Pathways to College Network; provided leadership in designing The College Board’s Equity Initiative; and assisted to design, advanced, and served as primary editor for the National Dialogue on Student Financial Aid, a multifaceted, integrated public affairs campaign to revive and refocus the nation’s discussion about financial aid so that access is once again at the center of our country’s educational funding priorities.

For ten years prior to joining the College Board, Attorney Baskerville managed a successful private legal and legislative services collective – The Baskerville Group – that provided legal and government relations representation, advocacy and diversity services to higher education institutions and associations, municipalities, elected officials, non-profit associations, small businesses and corporations.

For two decades Baskerville served as outside counsel to the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Education (NAFEO). She also served as executive director of the National Black Leadership Roundtable, as National Legislative Counsel for the NAACP, as a member of the national appellate litigation team of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and an administrative appeals judge in the District of Columbia.

In 1998, Attorney Baskerville was inducted into The Douglass Society by her undergraduate alma mater, Douglass College, in recognition of her unstinting commitment to improving the quality of life of vulnerable populations. She is a cum laude graduate of Howard University School of Law.
