Without a doubt all of us have heard about the devastating conditions that have come upon New Orleans, LA, Gulfport and Biloxi, MS and the state of Alabama as a result of Hurricane Katrina's wrath which was delivered upon these and other areas almost four days ago.
The plight of these people is horrific. Men, women and children are severely displaced. Many are still without food, electricity, and water. They have no place to live.
Death is crouching at their door.
I cannot express to you the hopelessness and despair that these people are feeling. Their lives as they have known them are forever changed.
You have watched the news scenes. It is heartbreakinig to see women, children and others wave from rooftops to news crews to get help for them.
We CANNOT remain unaffected by one of the worst, if not THE worst, natural disaster in the history of the U.S.
We MUST do something...anything that we can do to help save lives.
William Moss, President and CEO of this website is currently establishing an online fund whereby individuals can make donations toward the relief efforts and toward restoring HBCUs that have been affected by this disaster.
If each of one of us makes a donation, imagine how many lives we will be able to help!
HBCUs have been affected. They need our help desperately. For more information, please, read my blog "HBCUs Feel the Effects of Hurricane Katrina".
Demonstrate your compassion and support by making a cash donation (any amount will help the victims be one step closer to rebuilding their lives) through the online fund HBCUConnect.com's President William Moss is setting up.
I am deeply grieved by this catastrophic event that will impact all our lives directly or indirectly forever.
My thoughts and prayers go out to ALL victims of this extremely horrific aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Let's do everything in our power to help save lives.
