BATON ROUGE – Southern University is once again ranked among the top historically black colleges and universities by U.S. News & World Report. In fact, Southern moved up one rank.
According to the just-released report, Southern moved up from 30th to 29th place in U.S. News’ first tier for “America’s Best Black Colleges.” This is the second consecutive year that Southern has been ranked in the first tier.
Among other things, the magazine said it placed schools after gathering statistical data from each HBCU in its’ survey for up to 15 indicators of academic excellence. “Each factor was assigned a weight that reflects our judgment about how much a measure matters,” the magazine said.
