Don’t be Stuck on Stupid - be curious! Wake up your Mental Machine! (2981 hits)

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…” Hosea 4:6

Do you know someone who refuses knowledge? Who won’t read the back of a cereal box or a match top? They are not curious about anything. These are people who I affectionately say are “stuck on stupid”

I believe everything you ever need to know to get whatever you need to have is found in a book. Got a problem, find a book or two or maybe even three! Get some revelation. Get some ideas. Get some wisdom.

My problem is I don’t have enough time to read. I’d like to study at least two hours a day. That would be ideal. Two hours of pure mind expansion. I love information.

Some people think this is dumb. Well, they’re stuck on stupid. If I read two hours a day, on one subject, say on finances, I’d be rich by the end of the year! Why? Because I would have developed my mind to be in the top percentage of forward thinker on finances.

I heard Les Brown say if you want to an expert on a subject, read at least one book a month on that subject. That would make you in a league of the top ten percent of people on the matter. Genius huh? No. Just takes some effort and discipline.

Black people (my people) are real prone to be last in the percentages because we don’t like to read. Some would rather listen to music or be entertained. I know a lady who during the day when her children are at school she does puzzles. Puzzles! She doesn’t even read the newspaper. She can read too…I checked.

Then she wonders why she lacks luster and achievement, why she doesn’t have a exciting life. I see why she doesn’t have a life. This neighbor and I have nothing to say to each other. We talk about the neighborhood, the weather – but as far as the world goes: She’s just existing not really living it.

No intellectual stimulation going in to head at all! She doesn't even surf the internet. Just "reality" TV shows and sitting on the porch.

Don’t people want more out of life than the norm?
If you want an “uncommon” life, people have got to get a grip and read.

Expand the mind. Input some information. Break out of the dull dreams. Visit a library. Shop a bookstore. If you ever get any new ideas, it’s because you are under stimulated. Like in a coma.

Don’t be a part of the walking dead. Come out of your coma and open a book. Follow you dreams. Pursue a passion. Wake up your mental machine. Press in and find the time to read. You find time to eat don’t you?

Life is not meant to be boring. Put some effort towards learning, studying and reading. Quit trying to be entertained like a 5-year old child. Life is fascinating and should be adventurous going for glory to glory. Your brain is made to function at top capacity.

And check out the REAL Book. There is one that is eternal. It’s called the Bible. It won’t let you sleep; you’d be alive forever!
