BSN is a weekly African American newspaper focusing on investigative journalism. In addition to the newsstand edition, the company operates its popular website. BSN burst onto headlines of major publications including The Wall Street Journal in 2000 with a news scoop – that white shoe investment bank Morgan Stanley had paid an informant $10,000 to entrap a Black ex-banker, Christian Curry, before he could sue the firm for wrongful dismissal. The banker, using information from The Black Star News’s scoop sued the bank for more than $1 billion—the case was settled. BSN will investigate major news tips from aggrieved parties so long as there’s strong evidence to support the allegations. The paper was founded in 1997 by Publisher Milton Allimadi, with his savings and seed money from Bill Cosby. His co-publisher is Ms. Chichi Nwoko; both are graduates of Columbia University. Milton is also the author of “The Hearts of Darkness, How White Writers Created the Racist Image of Africa,” and is available for speaking engagements. He can be reached at Milton@blackstarnews.com or (212) 481-7745 Also visit
