Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey's shopping companion (registration required), is telling her side of their recent failed excursion to Hermes in Paris, calling it "one of the most humiliating moments of her life."
The problems began when Hermes employees refused to admit Winfrey after claiming they have been "having a problem with North Africans." The luxury store attempted to diffuse the controversy by issuing a statement saying the store did not bar Winfrey but rather it had been closed for an in-store party. King disputes this, reports the New York Post.
"I saw it, and it was really, really very bad," says King. "People were in the store and they were shopping, Oprah was at the door and she was not allowed in."
King said Winfrey will devote an entire show to the incident.
*What do you readers think? Should Hermes' have allowed Oprah entrance into its' store? Should celebrities EVER be told 'NO'???
