Director of Related Service
The Director of Related Services is responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive systems to effectively oversee every aspect of planning, implementing, and evaluating Related Services withing Springfield Public Schools. This role ensures that all processes are structured to support the delivery of high-quality, targeted related services and assessments.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains systems to effectively manage all aspects of planning, implementation, and evaluation of related services.
- Assists in the recruitment of related service providers and provides leadership in the areas of supervision, staff and program development, and evaluation of department personnel.
- Works collaboratively with the Chief of Exceptional Learning and Exceptional Learning Supervisors to manage department budgets.
- Creates procedures and routines to assign related service providers and monitor compliance.
- Provides administrative oversight into the purchasing, distribution, and implementation of assessments; including digital assessments.
- Provides technical support in the delivery of related services and district procedures.
- Confers with parents, families, school, and administrative staff, as well as university and other community contacts.
- Assists in the development and delivery of professional development for staff as required.
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Exceptional Learning and Related Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts certification as a supervisor/director or Special Education Administrator.
- Master’s degree in special education or related field, doctoral degree preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of the urban school setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the school District’s STAT and IEP team process.
- Demonstrated successful experience in the supervision and implementation of related services.
- Demonstrated successful experience working with parents and the community in a multicultural and multilingual setting.
- Demonstrated experience in team building and planning.
- Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer technology.
