This role is responsible for the leadership, management, and coordination of a residential community in the graduate upper division residence halls. They will work collaboratively with colleagues on campus to support the University Housing mission and vision, build safe, inviting communities through leadership, supervision, crisis management, and implementation of a residential curriculum. <br><h4>Job Summary</h4>Responsible for leading, promoting and evaluating residential life functions in two graduate upper division residence hall areas. Facilitates and evaluates the development of a positive community environment and provides learning opportunities that encourage students to develop to their potential. Supervisors will engage in and implement University Housing's inclusion, culture and climate initiatives.<h4>Duties & Responsibilities</h4><p><strong><span style="color: #13294B">Staff Supervision, Recruitment, and Training Responsibilities</span></strong></p><ul><li>Supervisors will engage in and implement University Housing’s inclusion, culture, and climate initiatives.</li><li>Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate a Residence Hall Director, a Housing Representative, and residential student staff.</li><li>Oversee the development and implementation of annual training for staff in their area.</li><li>Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings and staff development.</li><li>Provide leadership for area staff on all hall operations and administrative duties.</li><li>Coordinate with staff from other Housing units for day-to-day operations.</li></ul><p><strong><span style="color: #13294B">Community Development and Leadership Responsibilities</span></strong></p><ul><li>Provide guidance and support to staff, students and student groups in developing and maintaining residence hall communities that complement the academic programs of the University, engage the students’ interest and expand their knowledge, increase students’ social awareness and sense of responsibility and encourage learning opportunities across a dynamic group of students.</li><li>Plan and develop programs to meet the varied needs of the graduate and upper classmen residence hall population. Particular attention will focus on the needs of international residents.</li><li>Enhance student development opportunities through advising of student groups such as Hall Councils/ Resident Leadership Boards.</li><li>Educate residents, faculty and staff regarding University and Housing policies and procedures.</li><li>Identify and address behaviors that violate community standards and University and Housing policies.</li></ul><p><strong><span style="color: #13294B">Administrative Responsibilities</span></strong></p><ul><li>Supervise, lead and manage hall operational processes (i.e. opening, closing, damage billing, key inventories, etc.).</li><li>Facilitate the summer housing assignments process including room assignments and turnover.</li><li>Oversee the housing representative in operation of two customer service desks including procedures, scheduling, and responding to resident needs.</li><li>Develop and administer hall and area budgets.</li><li>Work cooperatively with Housing Conference Services regarding conferences scheduled in the halls.</li><li>Serve as a committee member on unit and department committees.</li></ul><p><strong><span style="color: #13294B">Crisis Response & Management Responsibilities</span></strong></p><ul><li>Serve as a crisis response backup for residence hall directors in the professional staff on-call rotation for all of University Housing.</li><li>Assume on-call responsibilities within a multi-residence hall and multi-apartments areas on a regularly scheduled year-round rotation, which includes holidays.</li><li>Effectively address all on-call responsibilities as well as follow-up with incidents.</li><li>Coordinate staff intervention regarding resident concerns, conflicts, and crisis. Assist staff in resolving interpersonal and inter-group conflicts and mediate as needed. Engage residents in learning communication and problem-solving skills. </li><li> Remain at or report to their facilities, as soon as conditions reasonably permit, in the event of severe weather or emergency situations when the university may suspend classes or close the university. (This position is considered an essential employee.)</li></ul><p><strong><span style="color: #13294B">Professional Responsibility</span></strong></p><ul><li>Maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor, co-workers and University Housing staff.</li><li>Be open and receptive to constructive criticism and feedback.</li><li>Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.</li><li>Demonstrate a positive attitude toward the position, area community, Family & Graduate Housing, and University Housing.</li></ul><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Master’s degree. </li><li>Two (2) years of professional experience in student affairs, customer service, hospitality, housing, or related field.</li><li>Experience in crisis management and conflict intervention. Experience directly supervising staff.</li></ul><h4> Preferred Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling or related field.</li><li>Experience implementing a residential curriculum or outcomes-based programming model.</li><li>Experience working with varied populations, including international students and graduate students.</li></ul><h4>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</h4><ul><li>Ability to work with and appreciate people from all backgrounds.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively and respond in a professional manner.</li><li>Proficient technology skills using various types of software.</li><li>Ability to work independently and pursue innovative ideas and solutions.</li></ul></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial"><span style="font-family: "Segoe UI""><strong>Working Conditions</strong></span></span></p><ul><li><span style="font-family: Arial"><span style="font-family: "Segoe UI"">This position requires the staff member to live within the same residence hall in which they work.</span></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial"><span style="font-family: "Segoe UI"">Position involves standard business hours with some nights and weekends required for duty and other programmatic or operational responsibilities.</span></span></li></ul><h4><span style="font-family: "Segoe UI"">Appointment Information</span></h4><p><span style="font-family: "Segoe UI"">This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: "Segoe UI"">Thebudgeted salary range for the position is $49,000 to $52,000.
