<dd><p>Working under the guidance of the Coordinator, CDL Training, Instructional Specialist II or Senior Instructor, independently provide instruction in entry-level or career improvements topics.<br><br>Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale. <br><br> </p></dd>
<dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0;">High school diploma/GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. Three years’ experience driving vehicles requiring a CDL-A license, a current, valid Maryland Commercial Driver’s License - Class A (CDL-A), with Air Brake certification, plus X (Hazmat/Tanker), and T (Doubles/Triples) endorsements, are required; S (School Bus), P (Passenger), or All endorsements are preferred. Must be able to pass a USDOT Physical examination as required to maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License. Knowledge of and experience with CDL industry driver logbook software preferred.</p>This position will work daytime hours on Saturday and Sunday and 3 other days during the workweek.<br><p style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 0.25in; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true"><strong style=" font-weight: 700;"><span style=" color: inherit;">Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. <dd><p></p><table border="0" width="714" style="width: 535.5pt; margin-left: -8.1pt"><tbody><tr><td valign="top" style="width: 100%; padding: 0 5.4pt"><p style="margin: 0"><br></p><div style="margin: 0"><ol style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-left: -0.25in"><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Seek continuous improvement in teaching (classroom and on-line) methodology and student-centered learning.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Maintain relevant licensure and status with key Commercial Vehicle Training agencies and remain current in the operation of CDL vehicles and the commercial transportation industry.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Maintain scheduled availability to students.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Develop an individual professional development plan.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Participate with other faculty in developing, managing courses, and curricula in Continuing Education.</span></li><li style="margin: 0">assist in student recruitment and selection.</li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Maintain laboratories, supplies and/or equipment.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Remain knowledgeable about the College, its structure, culture, policies, practices, and </span><span style="color: inherit">the </span><span style="color: inherit">CDL Training program.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Serve as an advocate for the College and its students, as required</span></li></ol></div></td></tr><tr><td valign="top" style="width: 100%; padding: 0 5.4pt"><p style="margin: 0"><br></p><p style="margin: 0">Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. <dt><h2>Position Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><table border="0" width="714" style="width: 89%; margin-left: -8.1pt; margin-right: calc(12%)"><tbody><tr><td valign="top" style="width: 100%; padding: 0 5.4pt"><p style="margin: 0"><br></p><div style="margin: 0"><ol style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-left: -0.25in"><li style="margin: 0">Develop and update curriculum that meets standards for learning the safe operation of both Class A and Class B commercial vehicles.</li><li style="margin: 0">Teach assigned courses utilizing strategies and activities to promote student engagement and enhanced student learning at a variety of locations including classroom, driving range, and on roads and highways.</li><li style="margin: 0">Follow established rules and guidelines of the FMCSA, USDOT, Maryland MVA and the college.</li><li style="margin: 0">Maintain a valid Maryland CDL-A with X and T endorsements and, preferably, S and P endorsements.</li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Obtain and maintain Employer Tester status with the Maryland MVA.</span></li><li style="margin: 0">Maintain industry affiliations and develop new affiliations for student placement.</li><li style="margin: 0">Participate in other administrative duties as required. </li><li style="margin: 0">Assist in the identification and scheduling of maintenance for the program’s class A and B vehicles to ensure availability.</li></ol></div><p style="margin: 0"><br></p><p style="margin: 0">Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive.
