Job Overview

The Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality (GCPI) is a research center that generates policy solutions to improve the lives of people experiencing poverty in the United States. Collaborating with government and movement leaders, we provide timely, evidence-based ideas to impact decision-making, increase economic well-being, and advance racial and gender equity.

High-quality care is essential for children, parents, workers, and the economy. GCPI's care policy portfolio advances a vision where paid leave and child care policies strengthen family economic security, reduce poverty, and recognize the value of caregiving.

The Senior Policy Advisor is a deeply networked policy expert and trusted collaborator who leads GCPI policy work on child care, paid leave, and other care policies, with a focus on racial, economic, and gender justice. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct highest level policy analysis, collecting and analyzing data and evaluating the effects of existing policies and government programs.
  • Develop research and policy ideas, publications, partnerships, and engagement opportunities for the care portfolio that align with center priorities.
  • Respond rapidly and effectively to emerging needs from policymakers, producing high-quality analysis, guidance, and materials on tight timelines while maintaining accuracy and alignment with GCPI values.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization's care policy positions-building strategic relationships, sharing expert analysis, and gathering insights to inform internal strategy and strengthen collaboration.
  • Provide mentorship and experiential learning opportunities to Fellows and students
