Newly elected president of Voorhees College, Dr. Cleveland L. Sellers, Jr., returns to Harvard University, where he received his master’s degree, for the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents. The seminar began Friday, July 18, and it will conclude on Wednesday, July 23. According to Harvard’s Web site, the seminar familiarizes new presidents with the opportunities and hazards they will likely face, and prepares them to respond to the multiple responsibilities and constituencies of their new role. Enrollment is limited to approximately 45 new presidents from all sectors of American higher education who have not yet assumed office or who are in the first year of their tenure as a president. “This seminar is an extraordinary opportunity for me to expand on my skills and knowledge on critical issues in higher education,” Sellers said. “I will benefit immensely from consulting with experts in institutional development.” Dr. Sellers was officially named eighth president of Voorhees College on April 22.
