The studio used to be my nemesis. I was always so afraid to sing because I felt like the people around me would criticize me, but my career evolution came when my husband encouraged me to sing again and told me that I could succeed at anything I set out to do. That’s how I got to a place where I could record again, and to sing on camera when I was recording the
“I Married A Baller!” theme song! That was huge for me.
Working with my producer Rodney was awesome because we knew each other way before he was the Grammy-winning and renowned Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. He and LaShawn Daniels created and produced the theme song to “Baller” and we love, love, love it.
I don’t know if you saw the episode when we were in the studio, but that session was the first time in a few years that Rodney, LaShawn and I recorded a song together. The session was meaningful for me because my son was able to see what I did for a living before I was a wife and mother. He also enjoyed being in the studio because there was so much for him to get into.
As for Eddie’s career evolution, he loves working for Fox Sports Network. Being able to break into broadcasting has given him a new lease on life and has made his transition from football easier for him. He has also found a passion for school with his quest to complete his master’s degree, with his fitness company (EGX Lifestyles) and with his landscape architecture company (The Edge Group).
It seems like everyday he is trying to grow mentally and spiritually and that’s another reason why I love him so much – I love a man who is not willing to settle!
I know that a few people are wondering when I plan on shedding my baby weight. Well, I gained 65 lbs and have about 20 lbs to go. I’m working on it, thought. I had to face the reality that I don’t have my 20-year-old body anymore and I can’t eat all the things that I used to be able to eat and not gain a pound from anymore. Also, I never realized that I was so big. I see myself everyday so it was easy to be disillusioned. This is where dancing helps me.
I enjoy doing the choreography routines for our show because they help me to stay in great shape. My husband also roughs me up a little bit with some of his routines. We try not to workout together because when we do, all we do is argue. He expects more from me and I expect him to go easy on me, so we clash. Finally he put me on a walking regimen and I have been on a roll. I’m not a weights and protein shake kind of girl, but I am a smaller now so I can‘t complain.
If you have any advice that will help me to lose my last 20 lbs of baby weight, please hit me up here or on the boards! I’m checking them every chance I get.
Peace and don’t forget to tune in to TV One next Saturday at 10 p eastern for more
