Our Leaders at Work!
HBCU Connect and the National Fellowship of Black College Leaders (NFBCL) were presenters at this years (NASAP) Conference at Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. The conference is held for student government officials (SGA), our leaders on campus. The students attend different workshops on leadership and the use of resources for empowering their student base.
NFBCL, whose mission is to strengthen and support Black student leaders at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, encouraged the students to keep their flame alive by connecting to one another and utilizing every resource available to them. The NFBCL consists of former SGA members who are now lawyers, screen writers, doctors, and the list goes on!
HBCU Connect encouraged the students to utilize all the many different services on the site. From networking tools, website configurable to sponsorships, HBCU Connect focused on the saying “help us help you”, offering services that will help build a stronger and better student base.
A student from Southern University summed up the session like this. “We need to have within our reach as many resources for our students as possible in order to help them become proactive.” " We provide these resources and it’s like a rippling affect; the ones that follow us will do the same."
The conference is taking place from May 22- 30th.
