Alabama State University's Office of Admissions is busy preparing for the upcoming "ASU Spring Connection Day," which will be held on Saturday, March 4, starting with registration at 8 a.m. in the ASU Dunn-Oliver Acadome and taking place from 9 a.m. until

6 p.m. An added bonus this year is that the ASU Mighty Marching Hornets Band is hosting the "Battle of the Bands" - an event that pits over 12 local middle school, high school and college bands in a contest with one another - on the very same day on ASU's campus!

The ASU Spring Connection Day is an event that allows all middle and high school students - who may be interested in attending college - to experience some of the excitement of ASU college life while learning more about the campus, student organizations, classes, the admission process and the University in general through various speakers, campus tours and fun events.

It is open to all prospective students and their parents/guardians alike at no charge!

During ASU's Spring Connection Day, students will be able to:

•Tour ASU’s campus;
•Discuss their academic interests with skilled professionals;
•Complete an admission application and learn more about financial aid, housing and orientation;
•Learn how to choose a college major;
•Find out about ASU clubs and organizations (academic and professional, honors and leadership, social, political, service and religious);
•Have fun and interact with college students and professors;
•And more!

Battle of the Bands at ASU Connection Day

One of the highlights of this ASU Spring Connection Day will be the Battle of the Bands. The event will feature over 12 marching bands that come from area middle school, high school and college bands, which includes the ASU Mighty Marching Hornets.

“Each band will gain performance experience and also have the opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Marcelle Glenn, administrative assistant to the ASU Mighty Marching Hornets Band. “There also will be scholarship awards available for selected high school seniors."
