Tanisha LaVerne Grant interviews Ballerina Misty Copeland at 14th Annual Tribeca Film Festival (4980 hits)

Ballerina Extraordinaire Misty Copeland can easily be considered one the many wonders of our world.  A young woman whose body type, pedigree and background should not have placed her in one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world ( New York's American Ballet Theater) has emerged as one of the greatest ballerinas of our time. As the first African-American female soloist at New York's American Theater in 20 years,  filmmaker Nelson George has documented the journey of Misty Copeland in his highly anticipated documentary called "A Ballerina's Tale" which premiered to an audience of over 900 guests at the 14th annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Entertainment correspondent Tanisha LaVerne Grant caught up with Misty Copeland on the red carpet who spoke about the discipline and athleticism it takes to be a ballerina who is is capable of performing at the highest level of the art form and sustaining.
