The 2nd Annual Hall Johnson Summer Camp July 5-10, 2015 hosted by Allen University (8321 hits)


The Hall Johnson Summer Camp is held on the campus of Allen University for high school choral students. This camp places an emphasis on the music of Hall Johnson and the appropriate performance practice for the Negro spiritual. Campers will have a week filled with choral rehearsals, musicianship classes and educational activities.

Hall Johnson graduated from Allen University in 1908 and later studied at the university of Pennsylvania, the Juilliard School and the University of Southern California. His contribution as an arranger of Negro spirituals, conductor, and vocal coach continues to impact the world of music.

Admission and Fees

Commuter Campers Fees: Application Fee $50 (non-refundable), Tuition $300
Total: $350

Resident Campers Fees: Application Fee $50 (non-refundable), Tuition $450
Total: $500

Tuition Fees Due: June 2, 2015

* All applications must include a $50 non-refundable application fee. The full tuition is due before June 2. Students who earned placement in All-state Choir are eligible for a $100 scholarship toward their tuition, if proof is provided before February 2.

Resident campers will be housed on the campus of Allen University and will be provided three meals per day starting with dinne on Sunday, July 5th and ending with lunch on Friday, July 10th.

All campers attend Music History and Music Theory classes each day.

For an additional cost, students may sign-up for private voice and/or private piano lessons.
