PROFESSION: Civil Rights Activist
Helped found a civil rights group that led a sit-in movement intended to desegregate Atlanta lunch counters while at Morehouse.Served as a Georgia Representative and Senator. A founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in 1960. Became Chairman of the NAACP in 1998.
