The Dawn of a New Day is a collection of poetry that tells the story of a Shelton Jackson trying to come to terms with his HIV positive status and be honest with himself and the people that he comes is contact with. While trying to find his truth Jackson got lost within his own s*xual desires and lost his focus and his mortality while engaging in unprotected s*x, self-hating behavior, and multiple s*x partners all while attending one of the nationals top historically Black colleges, Morgan State University.
Jackson’s journey is groundbreaking in terms of the honesty in which he tells his story. He takes you into the mind of an HIV positive man trying to get on with his life but society has marked him a threat and someone to be feared and avoided. And all he wants is to find love.
