Doin Too Much
More times than often i have heard the statement, "Yeah i was gonna go there (when reffering to an HBCU)...but i just dont know about being around all those black people." And more often than none i am irritated and nearly enraged by those words. Upon this graduating year of 2005, a heep of my friends decided to attend HBCUs, but there were those name less few who rathered to avoid the color scheme that surrounds a campus like Howard, FAMU, or Langston. I understand that it's a preference just like interacial dating, but it's a little troubling, hard to understand...u would rather go to a club filled with all kind of people and run the risk of being raped, beaten or shot...and shun the idea of being educated in an enviroment with the same company...which runs the greater risk? After thinking about this idea for a while i came up with this rebuttal for that statement: "No matter what campus you attend darling; you'll still be black."
So i leave the issue at hand to u HBCUers out there...enlighten me...tell me what u think about it!
