It's gut check time again. Same rules: If you are not ready to explore your inner feelings and beliefs...leave now...don't read another word!

------ Part X- Priorities

The secret to success is knowing when and why to prioritize. I have seen so many Black folks with their priorities all screwed-up. Let’s take for examples:

1. The guy who knows exactly what he plans to wear to the Jay-Z and Beyonce concert next month, but has not idea how much his check will be on Friday. That’s right, folks work every single day but don’t know the system or payroll schedule of their employer. Guess what folks…your priorities are all screwed-up. You should know the system better than anyone else…it’s your pay!

2. What about the sister who has the hairstyle photo cut out of the Vibe magazine and in her purse for months. She is waiting for “The girl’s night out” and she is going to be fly. Ask this same sister the phone number to her children’s school, doctor, her bank and she has no idea…and no idea where to look! Folks, we have got to get better. Make of list of the things that are important to you and put those items in your purse or wallet.

Ask any Graduate school student and they’ll be happy to tell you that if you don’t decide was is and is not important (prioritize) you will not make it. Ask any millionaire, and they’ll be happy to let you in on a little secret…”you cannot do everything (prioritize)”. You have to decide what means more to you and stick to those things. There will be times for fun…but not all the time!

That means telling folks NO sometimes.
“No Ray-Ray I can’t come to your BBQ I have to study”.
“No Boomkesha I can’t go to the club…I need to help my son study for his test in the morning”
“No mom…I can’t loan you $100 I am saving to buy a new house”

That also means telling folks YES sometimes.
“Yes, I can take the part-time job to help my wife pay some of these bills”
“Yes, our love means more than playing B-Ball”
“Yes, daddy will walk you to school even though I don’t have enough money to pay the support this month”

There are hundreds of models to help you better prioritize. PLEASE my people…. find one that works for you and make your life richer, more powerful, and better for you and your family.
