New emerging Artist

Krystal Taylor · Thursday, June 2nd 2005 at 5:19PM · 61 views
Music nowadays has change a lot. It seems that now anyone can get a record deal. I am starting to agree with a lot of the older people that say that music is dramaticly changing. Whitney Houston and Patti La Belle could truely sing. SO could Aaliyah (R.I.P.), the members of TLC( R.I.P. Lefteye), Mariah Carey and Faith Evans when they first emerged and they still can. So what is happening to the music now. Am I alone in feeling that they are giving these record deals to the undeserving people. There is still REAL talent out there. I think that the record companies just aren't looking hard enough. I for one would like to hear some REAL, NEW talent when I turn on my radio, instead of hearing some high-pitched female singing so loud that I can't understand what she is saying. I want to hear a new artist that can sing on and off the stage ( and I don't mean lip-syncing on stage). I want a new artist that can sing as well as DANCE ( and I don't mean standing in one spot while moving her head back and forth).

As far as the rap game is concerned well I think that it can speak for itself. YOu either can flow or you can't.

How do you feel about the new and upcoming artist of today?

3 things...1st) I watched an interview with Q a few years ago and he said there are many overlooked talented artists, but they lack personality and charisma. Think about it 50 Cent doesn't bring much as far as lyrical content, but he has incredible charisma. The bottom line is DOLLAR$! It is always risky and expensive to invest in a new and unproven artist, so they stick with a formula. The radio and television also plays a huge role in which artists get the most production and support. 2nd) Many new artists have caught my ear for a song or two and then I hear the album and want them to just stop! I doubt it, but hope the true talent will get their shine on! 3rd) New artist to watch out for in the future is my homie Teflon! His website should be gettin done sometime in the near future hopefully! Hopin to make some noise outside the home state! He dances and raps!

The problem with the music today is that these people have no morality in their music. Singers and rappers alike. I'm not saying that they all have to be gospel, but they need to talk about something other than cars that they really don't have or in some cases girls that they really don't have. Talent is still out there, but it's scarce. No one is looking for the real deal anymore...just the glitter and gold. I can say that I am a real musician. I haven't seen a real musician since Grover Washington. I'm just saying that I know where you're coming from.

This is a topic that I have discussed with people numerous of times. The fact that I love music and it is apart of my life ( I sing and play the piano) I understand exactly what u are saying. Some of the singers that are out today, can "hold a note". Like u said, there is no one out here really "blowing" like, Whitney, and Deborah Cox, etc.. Its all about WHO U KNOW, if u are pretty, if u can dance, and u u are sleeping with! The music industry has changed so much. People not rapping bout nothing but materialistic things. Nobody is really "spitting no more". Me personally, I like NAS, the "old" Jay-Z. and my all time favorite, TUPAC!! Tupac was not just on materialistic things. If u look at one of Tupac's videos (from back-n-da-day) he wasn't all iced out.(he had the money though) People truly loved him as a lyricist. There is so much that could be said about this topic! But u have brought up a good point.
