Little Runner

LaShonda Redd · Thursday, June 2nd 2005 at 2:40PM · 98 views
I watch as He runs from one side of the street to the other and just shake my head with disgust. As he slowly slips pieces of white rocks into the hands of those who are already addicted to the feelng of high, who has already set asides their dreams and hope of a better tomorrow. He stares at me. Wondering as i wonder the same, How old is this little boy and why isn't he in school?

The money he collects from his custumers folds over into a thick pack of sin consealed into a rubberband placed in his pocket. He quckly runs over to the opposite side of the street and hands his soul to the devil as if the devil has hired a advocate in training. He take the money and pulls out 60 dollars of drug money and a dime bag of weed and put it in this little 10 yr old boy's hand and turns around with complete satisfaction.

How could he just take away his youth and knowledge of the world? The things this little boy is supressed from, continues to increase as the day grows long. The next president, mayor, congress man, destroyed by ones ignorance of the world. Whats left for him to hope for when all his wishes and dreams have turned to nightmares? Another black child held within the court system held by the hand of the ignorant person lead by the hand of the devil.

For those who dont know why im writing this i like you to see what i see every day outside my window. The little kids have kids and little boys looking for fathers on the street corners and in result finding nothing but negativites. drugs, Jail or death and sometimes not in that order but as i write this and look outside my window i see this little boy who was put in foster care since his mother died and every since i have seen this boy go nowhere but down. It hurts to watch someone end so low when they started so high.

In dedication to the little runner, running for his life surviving for his future.
