"Trust in the Lord"
Psalm 37:1-11

David calls us to take delight in the Lord and to commit everything we have and do to Him. But how do we do this? To delight in someone means to experience great pleasure and joy in his or her presence. This happens only when we know that person well. Thus, to delight in the Lord, we must know Him better. Knowledge of God's great love for us will indeed give us delight.

To commit ourselves to the Lord means entrusting everything-our lives, families, jobs, possessions-to His control and guidance. To commit ourselves to the Lord means to trust in Him, believing that he can care for us better than we can ourselves. We should be willing to wait patiently for Him to work out what is best for us.

Anger, rage, and envy are very destructive emotions. They reveal a lack of faith that God loves us and is in control. We should not worry; instead, we should trust in God, giving ourselves to Him for his use and safekeeping. When you dwell on your problems, you will become anxious and angry. But if you concentrate on God and his goodness, you will find peace.

Where do you focus your attention?

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

BLACK HISTORY TRIVIA:

Congratulations to Beatrice Williams and Tyrone Walston who were the first to submit the correct answer: Samuel Leamon Youngue, Jr. (How amazing that their e-mails arrived at exactly the same time!!:))

TODAY'S QUESTION: Zora Neale Hurston was born on this day in 1891 and was an American folklorist during the Harlem Renaissance. She was best known for a novel written in 1937. Also in Black history today, a very useful office instrument was patented today. Here is your task for today:

In two or three words, respond to this e-mail with 1) the second word of Hurston's 1937 novel, and 2) the one or two word name of the office instrument that was patented on this day. Remember, your answer should be no more than THREE words.
