NYPD Making Changes as Result of Shawn Bell Case

According to AM New York's website, police officers on or off duty who uses their gun may be required to be tested for alcohol in the near future.

This announcement was made yesterday by police Commissioner Ray Kelly. He emphasized the officers at the incident were not under the influence and of sound mind.

Criticisms surfaced proclaiming that without proper medical diagnosis, officers can evade penalties if they consume alcoholic beverages past the amount NYPD permits to undercover officers so they can assimilate into their environment.
