Abraham Lincoln freeing slaves??

Dawayne Starr · Monday, April 2nd 2007 at 3:17PM · 723 views
What people don't understand about Abraham Lincoln is that he didn't care for the slaves at all. He, like a lot of people at that time, didn't like black people nor did he care about freeing the slaves. Proof of this came in August 22, 1862 when Lincoln explained:

"I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored; the nearer the Union will be "the Union as it was." ... My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that."

This shows you that he only did this to keep the north and the south together at the time. The south threatened to break away from the north and start there own seperate country. Since slavery was the main source of income in the south, the north had the idea of taking away slavery in the south so they wouldn't have money for weapons to fight and inevitalby costing them to lose. So this is how lincoln came about freeing the slaves. Just to win a war.

Exactly he even decided to expand the missouri compromise even futher down if the south didn't succeeded from the states. I think it's an insult that people credit him with freedom of all slaves when really it was just the slaves in the south as punishment of them succeeding. The emancipation proclomation is a load of bull. But even in today's society blacks are still not consider a full person we still count as 3/5 of a person just because the north didn't want blacks to count as full person .
