My Birthday is today! The big 32!

Marshonn Calvin · Tuesday, January 2nd 2007 at 2:42PM · 482 views
I am so blessed to be alive today! God has brought me a mighty long way. I am so glad to be a strong loving husband, father, son and friend. This birthay is really special to me because I finally know what my purpose is in life. I have done some wonderful things in the field of broadcast journalism/television production including my internship at NBC NEWS in New York at Rockefeller Plaza in 1997.

I am now the Broadcasting Director and Instructor at Millington Central High School. This job has meant the most to me than any position or internship I could ever hold at any television station or company. I say this because God is allowing me to work youth who are facing some serious challenges. Many of my students face educational challeges, economical disadvantages, and low- self esteem issues.

I've worked with students who believed they would never have the chance to go to college because of low GPA's self-esteem and severe learning disabilities. But through the broadcasting program that I have and postitive yet stern motivation I've watched them work hard to raise their GPA's and be accepted into college and maintain 2.5 to 4.0 GPA's.

I truly care about my students education and about my students becoming productive citizens, rising above circumstances and reaching out to help society through the field of Broadcast Journalism. The Memphis Education Association recently recognized my dedication and genuiness for my students when I was nominated as "Educatior of the Week" on my old television WMC TV -5 where I worked for 8 years and still work on special assignment projects.
