Why Stay

I often wondered why people stay with their partners after they cheat. I mean could the love be that strong that it by passes the point that, that person wasn't faithful and the loyalty is gone. My cousin is going through the same thing right now. I mean his girl cheated on him and he still stayed with her. I mean it sounds like oh he must love her but the thing thats weird about it is my cousin has a really bad temper i mean to the point where he hurts himself and others, i thought that when he found out he would go crazy but he didn't he sensed it and left to die. Could that mean like his love is stronger, could it mean he's a punk or in his girls words she thinks he doesn't care cause he probably cheating too. My question is why stay. It will probably take you almost years to get your trust and loyalty back with that person so why waste your time with trying to find love again when you can find it somewhere else where it might really count? Someone let me know. AM I thinking the wrong way or is it really worth the stay and working out the kinks with the only one you fell in love with?
