Is Howard REALLY that hard to get into ?????????????????

Kimberly Myers · Wednesday, September 27th 2006 at 7:37PM · 783 views
So I am halfway through 1st quarter of my LAST year in high school..and it is getting to me! I really really really want to go 2 Howard U! But people keep telling me how hard it is :-( Its depressing! And the recruiter that came to my school didn't really encourage things either..so my question is: what do I need to do to set my application apart from all the others? Should I study like there's no tomorrow for the sAT so I can get a really high score?? Should I revise my essay again and again and again until I can't change any more?? I mean...I don't know what to do :-(

Any advice from a current Bison?? I'd appreciate it!

Hi Kim! I'm a freshman this year at Howard. I felt the same way that you felt my Senior year in high school. I was coming all the way from Texas so I knew that I had to make the RIGHT choice and I was nervous about the requirements. The most important thing is your GPA. Mine was a 3.9. The next factor is SAT scores...not REALLY tough, but tough enough. On the 1600 I got a 1480. I studied like crazy. Now the essay..lol...that was a bunch of B/S. For real. I wrote it right before the deadline. It was pretty much a crap shot but I went there anyway and I made it in...on scholarship even. My extra-curricular activities were thru the water too, so get on your grind. Good Luck!! Hope to see you next year!
