Unique Pleasures...

I had the unique opportunity to meet the late veteran and legendary actor Ossie Davis and his lovely wife Rubi Dee when I was a kid. My mom and dad took us to hear them do a special reading of a book at The Ohio Historical Society and Museum in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Even then (and I must've been about 9 or 10) I could sense that I was in front of two legends. If you are a fan of black cinema at all, you've seen them doing their thing. Young cats today are more familiar with the talented duo's work in Spike Lee's movies, but they have one of the longest careers in Hollywood. White or Black. I have a feeling we'll be getting to see much more of them both (surprisingly) now that Ossie Davis has passed on. We'll dig through all of his old work and say how great he was and what a legend he is. I always knew. We love you Ossie Davis (and Rubi Dee).
