I am a senior at a "prestigious" all girls catholic school in New Orleans. We were in keyboarding class today and a senior at my "excellent" school said she did not know what VII in roman numerals meant so naturally everybody laughed. then I got serious I was like its sad that a senior at this school does not know these simple roman numerals. Then we were kind of "fussing" because she got offended from me speaking my mind about the shamefulness of the situation. If only we as a cultural stop worring about the fancy cars, the hairdos, he nails, and all other things maybe we can get somewhere. I told tghis young lady if she were in a college class and said that then the teacher would have probably said Baby what school did u attend because I don't want my kids there. I do believe in having fun, but I always put my work first because I know how hard my mother struggles to pay tuition in high school. I was just too mad at that today. Am i wrong for being mad?

I know what you mean. My school isn't religiously affliated but i attend an elite independent all girls college prep school in maryland and I understand you fully and i don't think you are wrong for being mad. so many times ppl at these types of schools feel as though their money and material possesions allows them to be ignorant when that's not even how the real world operates. I think it's just the private school mentality that perpetuates this. I glad to see that somebody else believes that this is type of attitude is wrong.

Okay. I think that you handled the situation very well. I attend a public school so my mother doesn't have to pay any tuition. Thank God she doesn't. I think that if someone's parent's are breaking their backs to better their child's education, then they should appreciate that and learn all they can. But don't worry about her, keep doing what you are doing and be HAPPY! Much luv!
