Why Don't I HAVE A Scholarship?.... HU Financial

Diva J · Friday, June 30th 2006 at 2:33PM · 554 views
I graduated with a GPA of a 6.0 on a 4.0 scale and received no financial assistance as far as scholarships go, from Howard. Every other organization who offered a scholarship chose me as their recepient yet it isn't enough to cover all four years... Now, I know HU got the funds, and I think many deserving students are short changed for their hard work in school... I just hope they come to their senses and put something up to offer.

Do they offer 1st semester funding?!?!? As of now, I need to take out $20,000 in loans in hopes that HU will cover the second year of school

i understand where your coming from, but i was also told that Howard is a very cheap school when it comes to financial aid. i didnt get very much either most of my money is coming from outside sources, but like they said, i really wanted to go to howard and i am willing to work hard and pay it off, maybe once we get in and do well, the money will come!!

I got lucky wit my scholarship, I got my tuition paid for 4yrs. at Langston. I had horrible grades. But I talked 2 a lot of people and my parents did alot 4 me. It's really a matter of gettn' there shown' them wat u can do and maken' money happn'. There all kinds of ways to do it without loans too. With yo beuty u should do a pagent or somethin, thats good cash. If u play a sport go ask the coach if there a scholarship avalible. Its good to put yourself out 2 people the more care notice the more they care. Or u could raise hell about it, keep bothern' da office, they rather solve it than hav a problem wit u.

first i want to commend you on achieving such a high GPA... I never heard of a 6 on a 4 scale but anything is possible. Good luck trying to get ANY type of money from howard. They hate to give ANY type of money...but if you maintain a high GPA during your first semester than you might get one from your college...also, money goes into sports; bowling, basketball, track whatever you can get into! Good luck!
