A revered member of the AF Gossip Society
Sometimes when I'm taking a break from my coursework or tending to my child, I do what I call "channel surfing."
Yes, I even pause on certain stations that show the latest updates on the stars and starlets of our society.
When one of those shows that airs speculative discussions about what's really going on behind the scenes of a particular star's life, was on I had to stop and watch for a few minutes. Anyway, I have found myself wondering why the heck I'm watching these types of stories.
Let's face it - What's that star ever done for me? I mean he or she is highlighted in the media virtually every day, for publicity or sheer gossip.
Well, it's not the publicity part that bugs me, it's the part about when the stars seem as though they are sooooo upset about what some media person might have written about them.
Okay, maybe they have a right to get upset sometimes, but then, too, I think, "Darn it," at least they can charter a boat/plane/train and get away from it all.
On the other hand, when someone is gossiping about me, true or not (usually false or huge exaggerations of the truth), I'm forced to deal with it head on.
Nowhere to run - even when I attempted to volunteer for one of the local community organizations, I ran into those gossipmongers. Yes, I couldn't even volunteer somewhere without another so-called volunteer (you know, the kind of person who is just there to look good to the community leaders and their boss), slithering their way to others to discredit me.
So, I think, maybe I'll start the National Average Folk Gossip Society. That way, all of those people who are hell-bent on ruining someone's reputation can really get it out there. - The purpose? - At least those of us being slandered and verbally torn apart could have a venue of defense.
Members would include the gossiper and the gossipee.
Isn't it something, though, how those doing the gossiping seem to never be able to take it when "the shoe is on the other foot?" All of a sudden they want to fight somebody or further agitate the situation with even more gossip and innuendo.
Nevertheless, to all of you who constantly find fault in others, take control of your life. You might want to start by getting over yourself!
