At the 13th Annual African American Conference on Disabilities, notable attendees included Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, Commissioner Thomas Hicks, and Thomas Collins. Their presence added to the conference’s significance and highlighted the importance of addressing disability rights within the African American community.

Secretary of State Adrian Fontes gave a great observation on opinion and option to vote
versus a duty to vote.

In the past several years, over 20,000 attendees have come from all across Arizona, almost every U.S. state, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Africa, and Europe to learn and ask questions on a wide range of disability issues.

Congratulations to the Disability Rights Arizona team and Renaldo Fowler for hosting the 13th Annual African American Conference on Disabilities! This premier comprehensive disability conference in the United States addresses the intersection between race and disability. The conference featured twenty different disability-related workshops and four general sessions.

The AACD’s targeted focus, diverse sessions, scholarships, partnerships, and corporate support collectively contributed to its widespread attention and engagement across local, national, and international levels.
