Pray Until Something Happens! ( P.U.S.H.)

Traci T. · Sunday, March 27th 2005 at 3:06AM · 79 views
I'm trying to push on, but it gets harder everyday. I know He has a master plan, but I always wonder why things turn out a certain way. This past week, it seems death's everywhere I look. This boy shot this kid, and I'm supposed to focus on his sentence instead of the life he took. Then Nelly's sister dies and the school's supposed to get shot up. Nobody came to school Friday, they in the house scared and locked up. These parents need to step up and raise these kids right. If they'd whoop they butts at home they wouldn't be coming to school to fight. All I know how to do is get on my knees and pray. I hope that my words can help change our situation someday. It saddens me to see my young people act with such negative vigor. Then they wonder why they're the first to stare down a barrel with a hyper trigger. I try to pray until something happens, but miracles around here are far between and few. Thank God I wake up every morning, but then I'm clueless of what to do. It's hard to know what steps to take and which ones to ignore. Now-a-days if you miss a stone you might not be alive anymore. I'm scared to turn certain corners now, scared to go through certain doors. Worried that my friends might not be here tomorrow, or his, or hers, or yours. That boy will never get to graduate, see the world or start a family. He'll never see the things we take for granted, he was only sixteen. I want so bad for someone to see, to try to realize. We don't have long on this planet so we need to recognize. We should put away the petty things and focus on what really matters. Realize that with everyone's life that's taken, their family's hearts shatter. The words don't exist to explain how much I wish you could all relate. I want so bad for people to understand that it just might be too late. TuPac said that we should use Hip Hop to teach, spread messages, and educate. And with this poem as my contribution to you, I hope something I've written will penetrate. We need to PUSH through the boundaries of ignorance and educate our Black people! Stop getting pissed off about stereotypes and do something to change the way people see you! If knowledge truely is power, it's a shame how many of us are powerless and weak. Some of us are so caught up in appearences that we don't know the meanings of some of the words we speak. Pick up a dictionary and learn what you're saying before you open your mouth. There's nothing wrong with pronoucing your words right and representing the Sunny South. I'm undeniably proud of my race, I love how creative we can be. We have so much potential to be great I just wish we could all open ours eyes and see. That's my entry for right now I had to get that off my chest. I pray God Blesses you all and watches over you as you rest. Love 2 All!
