I researched and studied the Bible and the Quran to a fault and I'm still studying and researching both books. I don't think the entire Bible is false, although I am weeding out Books/events that seem sketchy to me. I'm trying to be as accurate and certain as possible, with my process of elimination.

These words Jake, are a late addition to the book of Mark, they were certainly not written by Mark. Now if you know the Greek, show me how the translation is incorrect. Very rarely you may find something in the Greek that adds meaning to the English translation. My Greek text is in storage or I would prove it to you.

This verse in the book of Mark is not speaking literally of supernatural protection if we pick up a snake. It's speaking symbolically of protection in our fight against evil.

First, it is very important to remember that there are some questions regarding whether Mark Chapter 16, Verses 9-20 belong in the Bible. There is some evidence that these verses were not originally part of the Gospel of Mark. If you have access to an NIV version of the Bible, there is a note that reads "Some of the oldest and most reliable Greek manuscripts of the Gospel of Mark do not contain verses 9-20."

Some other manuscripts contain Mark 16:9-20, but set them apart from the rest of the Gospel of Mark. As a result, it is not wise to use anything from Mark 16:9-20 as the sole basis for a doctrine or practice. Snake handling is one such example of a dubious concept from Mark 16:9-20.

If we assume, despite the evidence to the contrary, that Mark 16:17-18 does belong in Scripture, does it teach that we should be handling snakes in church? The answer to that question is a definitive no. Mark 16:17-18 does not contain any imperatives. It does not say, “Go out and handle snakes.” It says, “They will pick up snakes with their hands.” It is describing something that will occur, not commanding that something should occur.

An example of this is the Apostle Paul in Acts 28:3-5: “Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand … But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.”

Notice that Paul did not seek out to handle a snake. The snake bit Paul, but God protected Paul from the effects of the snake bite. Mark 16:17-18 is saying that if you are faithfully serving God in the spread of the gospel, He can protect you from anything that may cross your path.

If the snake-handling churches were consistent, they would also follow the second part of Mark 16:18: “…and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all.” Scripture is consistent that God can and will protect us, according to His will, as we are serving Him. Scripture is also consistent that we are not to put the Lord to the test (according to Moses's quarrel with the Isrealites in Exodus Chapter 17).

Just as Jesus refused to jump off the pinnacle of the temple, even though God would send angels to protect Jesus, so are we to not intentionally put ourselves in situations that require God’s miraculous intervention. First Corinthians 10:9, while not speaking directly of snake handling in churches, says it best: “We should not test the Lord, as some of them did — and were killed by snakes.”

this is a sign the bible has been tampered with and is not the written word of god with that in mind I can think of no superior example thoroughly demonstrating why the Bible is not the holy word of any deity than the tale of Noah and his ark. Although this book is intended to be a short introduction of biblical problems for those still hanging onto their programmed beliefs, I’m unable to fathom how I can be concise with the tale of the global flood. Rather than bogging you down with some mind numbing scientific data, I’ll try to present the various problems in an organized yet fun to read manner.

The story’s utter ridiculousness is probably why many polls indicate that an increasing number of Christians no longer claim a literal belief in the Old Testament. Sure, one can easily explain the whole fiasco by use of miracles: God made all the water appear and disappear; God prevented all the water from becoming too hot; God put the animals into hibernation; God kept the ark afloat; God repopulated the earth with life; and God erased all evidence of the flood. By invoking the miracle clause, however, Christians are using unverifiable events that any person can insert into any scenario in order to maintain the legitimacy of any religion.

To rectify all these problems in such a deceitful manner is to go against the whole purpose of constructing the ark in the first place. Applying such implausible explanations would also mean that God, once again, intentionally misleads people who rely on their logical and observational talents that he himself gave them for deducing answers to readily apparent problems. Searching for the truth behind Noah’s ark isn’t a matter of coming up with any solution for a problem that makes the story fit, but rather discovering the most likely solution to the problem so that we have the most likely answer.

The intent of the story is sparkling clear. An imminent flood was coming, and Noah was to perform specific duties to keep life thriving on our planet. The eight members of his family could not have accomplished this task for the reasons discussed at length in this chapter. Like every other global deluge story that came before and after Noah, the biblical flood is a lie.

The source of the entertaining tale was most likely a tremendous flood that would later be embellished to fantastical proportions. When taken literally, the tale of Noah’s ark is an insult to human intelligence and common sense. If the story didn’t appear in the Bible, as is the case for dozens of other flood legends, no one would be giving it a second thought.
