Oh Yeah, I'm a Senior, but I'm Not Graduating
You know what upsets me? The distinction that comes about when you become a senior in college. Ever walk around campus or attend assemblies where upperclassmen have to speak, or a roll call happens, and you hear either:
"I'm so-and-so, and I'm a GRADUATING senior!"
or
"Where all the freshman at? Sophomores? Juniors? Seniors ((loud screams))? And how about all my GRADUATING seniors ((loud screams and a whole bunch of fools cuttin' up))?!!"
Since when are you better than me because you're graduating on time? Shouldn't we all celebrate on one accord because we actually made it to Senior year? Shoot, some of us are in some CRUCIAL majors that can make or break you and not allow you to roll out within four years (get at me all my fellow Accounting majors trying to become CPAs)!
I don't know about everyone else, but for those of y'all like me who have been through hell and high water just to make it to senior year, only to discover you're a few hours short of graduating (like you haven't been bustin' your tail to work really hard since Freshman year), I think we should yell just as loud as those graduating who cut up and act fool because we've worked just as hard as they have to get to senior status. So the next time someone does a roll call on your campus and asks, "where the GRADUATING seniors at?", stand up, cut up, and act a fool too because you're a GRADUATING senior-- just not on time yet.
